What do you listen to while you work?
All work and no play, makes for a long and dreary day! Whether it’s in an office, a studio, a kitchen, or on the road; adding some music or a podcast can turn an ordinary day into a great one! Or at least be a little more tolerable 😅.
Here, I share some of my favorites with you while I do housework during the week (which is actually the most work I do).

Cooking👩🍳
Yes, I do see cooking for my family as work! And if you’re the homecook, you can confirm just how stressful it can be. In order to calm the cooking storm, I love putting on relaxing background music. Just instrumentals.
Sometimes… I even pick a theme! If I’m making a lasagne, you’ll hear Italian countryside melodies. And on the odd occasion, I’m baking, New York jazz is my go-to.
Dishes, cleaning, and tidying🧹
Making your space spick and span has a therapeutic feel to it. So I enjoy listening to more ‘constructive’ things when busy with these tasks. Especially talks about Islam. Particularly ones that remind me to trust in God and believe He has the best planned out for me.
I have also come to love listening to social and political commentary. Even if it does not necessarily align with my beliefs, I want to better understand people and how they think. As a media professional and a chronically online adult, understanding diverse views and opinions is vital.
Blogging💻
This is what I’m doing right now, so what am I listening to? It’s a specially curated Spotify playlist full of sad and heartbreak music! Haha, seriously!
I’m not sure how to explain this, but when I listen to overly ‘happy’ or bright music, I get distracted and end up dancing along instead of working! So, in order to be productive, I gotta turn up those emotional tunes.
