Do you feel behind in life? (Quote by Abraham Harold Maslow)

The great essential ingredient…is that the sacred is in the ordinary,
that it is to be found in one’s daily life.

ABRAHAM HAROLD MASLOW

A cake cannot come to be without baking powder. A cheeseburger is non-existent without the cheese (and so is pizza). And aglio e olio is nothing without garlic, as is a tomato soup without deliciously roasted tomatoes.

What is that ‘great essential ingredient’ that brings magic to your day? That makes you feel grateful, accomplished, and proud to be where you are and who you are.

My recipe would require moving my body, having long chats with my husband, and completing small chores. And to someone else, this might seem extremely boring and introvert-coded. But when I GET to do these small things every day, I feel thankful and fulfilled.

By ‘completing’ small daily goals, your motivation ramps up, and you feel rewarded – despite how small or boring these goals may seem – and without realising it, you’re in a winning cycle! One day, you will feel more confident to pursue bigger goals and make drastic changes… something I can’t wait to achieve!

Finding the ‘sacred’ in the ‘ordinary’

Something that is sacred is linked to God or religion. But another way of understanding the word is that it is something deserving of great respect or reverence.

Allah/God is everywhere. He hears everything and sees all. He is also the one who made my body capable of moving. The One who gifted my chatty husband to me. The Being who blessed me with eyesight to see the dust on the shelves and a creative mind to write blog posts.

And in a way, because of this, I would like to believe that no matter how small a goal, achieving it is never in vain. It is never wasted. The effort you make to get closer to Allah/God – or closer to your ‘great’ – is worthy of respect and praise.

Something you should be proud of!

You are in control of making the right choices, getting off your butt a

nd fighting for your great (day/week/month/year)!

Beginning the day with Praise to God and ending the day with trust in God. I love and respect my body for just being able to walk.

Shukran/Thank you for taking the time to read these motivational (semi rant😅) posts.

On a personal note, much of this stems from my struggle to stay motivated and appreciative of where I am in life. Because I often feel like I am behind. “I should be more successful, financially stable, happier, more confident.” Things I should have figured out years ago, but I am only now getting the hang of.

I have been getting so many wonderful messages from you all. I never realised that through sharing my thoughts online, I would have found a beautiful community of superb humans! Let’s all continue to strive towards our great!
