The Value of Health, Freedom, and Home: Quote of the Week

I recently moved house. We are still living out of boxes: and this is to be expected for the next few months to a year (or so). And while finding new places for everything can be exciting, unearthing hidden treasures is just as delightful! Like this little, fat book I got as a birthday gift some years ago.

A Simpler Life… is a ‘Helen Exley Gift Book’ filled with (I dunno, over a hundred) short quotes. All in a bid to get busy people – like me – to ponder over the beauty of a simple life. I thought: why delve into the wisdom on my own when I could share it with all of you!? So here goes:

…simple things,
such as health,
freedom and a home where we are loved
are priceless.

When it comes to health: I am not the fittest or healthiest. But being able to move independently for as long as possible is my ultimate goal. Last year, my mommy had to have a procedure done on her knee. And it really got me thinking. Luckily she has us to look out for her. But who knows where I will be at her age, surrounded by who?

What does freedom mean to you? For me, it means having enough money behind my name, so that should anything happen, I can cover it without worrying about the rest of the month. In Shaa Allah (God Willing). As I shared in my previous post, I have had to face periods of unemployment and financial insecurity. So freedom to me, is gaining that financial stability.

Since becoming part of two homes, I have come to value being honest and blunt about your feelings and boundaries. Open communication is key! I think we can all agree that having a safe space to run to when traversing the ebbs and flows of life, makes the journey more manageable. We’re able to take a breath. Brainstorm ideas. Rest. And refuel our emotional tanks.

And as the author states – it’s all priceless! What do you think? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about this quote in the comments below. And feel free to share it to your socials. You never whose day you’ll turn brighter

Love from me, to you.
