Happy Thursday (in Cape Town) to everyone! How has the week been treating you so far? Let’s chat about it in the comments, please.
Things have been great on my side. I celebrated my 26th birthday on Tuesday. Cast my vote in South Africa’s general elections, and I brought news updates about it during during the evening on Good Hope FM.
While this week has been great, there are times when I need a little reminder that things are going to be okay❤️🩹. It’s time for our Quote of the Week from Helen Exley’s ‘A simpler life’ book.
The simple things are often best:
A simple, helping hand,
A kindly thought,
The simple phrase,
“Of course, I understand.”
– Anne Kreer
We all need that one person, or people, who just get us. Who can actively listen, or help us during distress, or advise us without judgement.
This might be a parent, spouse, sibling, or brother from another mother. It can even be a person entirely removed from your social circles – a therapist or social worker.
Who is the person in your life who says, “Of course, I understand”?
As Anne Kreer suggests in this quote, keep kindness simple.
Offer a “simple, helping hand”: cooking a meal for a sick friend, offering a lift to an elderly person, or sharing your lunchbox with someone without food.
It’s not about big gestures. But the small, consistent actions we take to better our lives and the lives of others. It matters!
Have a beautiful week ahead,
