How do you want to retire?
I just turned 26, but that doesn’t mean I am not thinking about the future (if not obsessed). Honestly, I find thinking about retirement really difficult.
Especially when looking at the political turmoil in South Africa, the rise in costs, and salaries not beating inflation – it’s tough π€!
But I want to stay hopeful. I hope that the little I put away each month will one day come in handy. I hope that my little investments will pay off well. I hope my skills and experience will land me a kwaai (amazing) job that will lead to a comfortable retirement.

But if all else fails, I hope I will retire surrounded by loving family and friends. I want to retire after achieving my lofty (but realistic!) goals, yet early enough to enjoy the leaisure and world I worked forπ³ππ.
I want to retire knowing that I made an impact at a company, contributed to my community, and helped others. Until I know I have done this, I can not retire, regardless of age… which I hope will not be too late in life!
But I’ll probably be that old aunty who still makes Reels or TikTok videos – and who shakily types out blog posts π©βπ» for all my wrinkly followers. Who knows what we’ll talk about then!?
