An event to unite all the geeks and gamers. Comic Con Cape Town is a huge highlight for many – and I’m sure this year’s event will not disappoint!
During my first con, I was so overwhelmed! The lights, the activations – all the cosplayers that towered over me!!! – it took me a good few visits to finally feel comfortable. But if you’re going for the first time or for just one of the days – here are some of my tips that can help you enjoy your time at Comic Con Cape Town 2025! 🎮🧡
A charged phone makes more fun
Here’s the scene… you walk through the doors and are instantly transported to a world of cosplay… dancing lazer beams… competitive gaming… anime trinkets…and you think, ‘I gotta capture this’, only to see your phone is at less than 30%, and now you have to choose between taking pics and videos, or paying with your device or booking a ride later.
🟡Charge your phone fully ahead of the event, or have a power bank on hand.

Go with friends
And yes, going solo does mean having to only worry about transport and food for yourself – but some things are just better together – like friends and Comic Con🥂.
Trust me, going with a sibling, or partner or friend, is going to make the Con more fun and less overwhelming.
You’ll have someone to snap pics of you, help you decide what concept art to buy, and even try silly challenges with you!
🟡Plus, if things get stressful, having a buddy with you can ease the tension and help you stay calm.

Don’t film everything
Now, this might contradict my first point. But outside of taking some quick snapshots of the event and paying or making calls, please put your phone away.
This is not a rule of the Con haha!
But don’t waste your day filming everything🫣 (unless you’re getting paid to do it). Immerse yourself in the geekiness of the Con and enjoy each moment fully.
🟡Be present and make those real-life memories. You never know what or who might come your way when you look up.

Cosplayers: be polite, ask first, don’t touch without permission
Do I need to explain this one…😅 Remember, there are actual human beings underneath those intricately crafted costumes.
Moola, baby!
I’m already saving up for the event! 😅 Be sure to set some funds aside for this event. Not only can you find comic books and artwork, but you can buy anime, gaming or film-inspired clothes, backpacks, notebooks, keychains, jewelry, pillows, mugs – you name it!
🟡Besides merch, you will need money to pay for parking and food (not sure if it’s Halaal).💰

Dress comfortably
The Con is usually throughout a couple of floors and housed in the big halls of the Cape Town International Convention Centre. So you’re going to do a lot of walking and moving around.
🟡Wear comfortable shoes. And dress comfortably, so you can keep cool and relaxed. Unless you’re cosplaying… then do yo thang!

Positivity and patience
As with any major event, things can go wrong, and they can be stressful (i.e., finding parking) or take longer than usual.
🟡So it’s important that we go with good vibes and ☮️ cool heads.
I hope to see you all there and remember tickets are available here.

Go early. Enjoy your time.
There’s going to be so many fun activations: a bunch of free-to-play tournaments 🎮♟️, as well as cosplay competitions and celeb panels and shoppiinnggg!!!
Make the most of the day by going early and leaving late 😋. This gives you ample time for traveling, as well as strolling through the Con and experiencing every single action-packed moment.
