Jack Black returns as the pudgy Dragon Warrior who sets out to take on the ‘most powerful shapeshifting sorceress’ voiced by EGOT laureate, Viola Davis!
Dreamworks Animation has just dropped the first trailer for Kung Fu Panda 4 – which will be in theaters in March 2014 – which has proven to be something of a treasure trove ever since its first film seven years ago. (Now this makes me feel old)
Watch the trailer right here:
But this fourth edition plans to throw a big spanner in the works, as Po sets off to the big city to find and train a new Dragon Warrior before taking on the role as the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. I don’t mean to judge – but did Po ever strike you as the ‘spiritual’ type?
But before Po conducts his own dumpling training with a pupil, sightings of a ‘wicked, powerful sorceress’ called the Chameleon emerge. This sneaky, greedy villain can shapeshift into any form, large or small, and her eyes set on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which would give her the power to summon all the big baddies Po has banished to the spirit realm.

Do not fear! Our soon-to-be-retired Dragon Warrior gets help in the form of a witty fox thief, who manages to get under Po’s fur, but has some seriously crafty skills. Our foxy friend is Zhen (voiced by Golden Globe winner Awkwafina).
We’re in for a treat with this one! A classic case of odd-duo comedy where we all learn (once again) that heroes can be found even in the most unexpected places – and people.
The cast also includes:
Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, David Cross, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen and Jackie Chan. Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan also features in the film as a…quirky character named Han. James Hong returns as Mr. Ping (Po’s adoptive goose father) Bryan Cranston plays Li and Ian McShane returns as Tai Lung.
Kung Fu Panda 4 is out in cinemas March 2024, and is directed by Mike Mitchell, co-directed by Stephanie Ma Stine.
