Because no one is perfect š !
In my house, I am the head chef š©āš³ and my husband is the taste tester. But before I developed kitchen confidence, I HAD to make mistakes (and in some instances, MEGA EPIC FAILS). So in this post, I’m going to show you that making oopsies in the kitchen is really important – crucial, actually – to becoming an awesome home cook!
Breakfast Pizza š¤®šš„
We’re starting off strong with an inside joke between my husband and I, from our first year of marriage. We were making pizzas at home. And I got the craaavviinnggg for a breakfast type pizza. Eggs with a runny yolk, topped with avocado and white cheddar. It all made sense in my mind! But the outcome left us gagging… The eggs had run off and baked under the pizza, directly on the sides of the pan, while the avocado turned brown and tasted absolutely disgusting! All while the dough was still raaww! Not only that, but the eggs made the pizza stick to the sheetpan. So not only was I left embarrassed and frustrated, but I had to battle with scraping off my mess.
LESSON: Laugh it off! And make some funny memories. Sometimes what we imagine in our heads doesn’t always translate into reality. But gaps in knowledge are just that – GAPS – that can be filled with cook books, tested recipes and cooking shows.
